Saints in too much hurry
Women’s cricket
St Lawrence & Highland Court 2nds slipped to a four-wicket defeat away to Reigate Priory in the Women’s Southern League Whitehorn League. After winning the toss, Saints scored quickly but also lost wickets regularly, so much so they were dismissed for 125 with 19 of their 40 overs still remaining. Annabelle Richards top scored with exactly 50 before being clean bowled next ball, while Molly Davis chipped in with 19 not out. Reigate scored 18 runs from the opening three overs in reply before Richards (6-0-32-2) made a double breakthrough. Chloe Morphy (5-0-20-3), Rachael Ellerby (5-0-17-1) and Sophie Bambridge (5.5-0-17-1) all bowled well but Reigate were always ahead of the run rate and reached their target in the 30th over. Saints are away to Tunbridge Wells on Sunday, August 7.
