Couture came to Cricket Week in Canterbury when the outfield turned into a catwalk for the kmfm Ladies Day fashion show.

The traditional sporting whites gave way to a kaleidoscope of colour in the tea interval last Thursday as outfits complete with hats and accessories were modelled by enthusiastic entrants.

There to ensure fair play was kmfm’s deputy programme manager Andy Walker who compered the event and presented the prizes.

He said: “It was a lot of fun and the ladies excelled themselves with some great outfits.”

Amber Court, of Canterbury, won the best dressed prize of a stay for two at Eastwell Manor with breakfast, dinner and use of the spa and leisure facilities.

Mum and daughter Emma and Daisy Brealy, of Herne Bay, picked up the best hat award of an aromatherapy massage and luxury facial from The Inner Goddess in Faversham.

Laura Bevan, of Dover, won the best accessories prize and will be able to treat herself and nine friends to an exclusive evening drinks party at Iconic by Fitzgerald in Canterbury with £100 to spend on jewellery and watches in store.

The day was one of the highlights of the 165th Cricket Week during which more than 10,000 people visited the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, where Kent won back to back matches to add the icing to the cake.

Off the field, cricket supporters were serenaded with live music from the Col Jones jazz band and the Dover and Deal Sea Cadets.

Kent captain Sam Northeast, together with former players, on Wednesday placed a wreath for the fallen at the foot of the ground’s famous lime tree.

The club also made a big donation from the sale of T20 T-shirts, backed up with a bucket collection from supporters, to the Battle of Britain memorial at Capelle-ferne, which resulted in a cheque for £780 being presented to the charity.

More than 3,000 tickets have been sold for Kent Spitfires’ home quarter final on Thursday. The match is all-ticket with advanced adult tickets £20, under-16s £1 and discounts for members at kentcricketshop.co.uk.
