Whitstable 2nds secured their third consecutiv­e victory to steer themselves away from the relegation places in the 2nd XI Premier with a two-wicket win over Sandwich Town at the Belmont. Town won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 242-7 from their 50 overs with John Butterwort­h taking 2-42 for Whitstable. In the chase, Ben Rutherford scored 68 and skipper James Loader contribute­d an unbeaten 34 to see his side home, moving to mid table. In Division 1, Canterbury suffered a defeat to second-placed Beckenham. The city-based side could only field nine players and Beckenham made 257-6 with Daniel Bonthuys taking 2-28 from his nine overs. The visitors put up a fight in reply but were all out for 193, with Ben Line top scoring with 35. St Lawrence and Highland Court 2nds secured a crucial win over Catford and Cyphers to move to within two points of safety in Division 2. Court batted first but could only muster 148 all out with Ciaran Morgan adding 41. Morgan continued his good day, taking 3-32 alongside Subhradeep De Sarkar who stole the show with 4-25 as Catford were skittled for 125. In Division 4, Chestfield made the short trip to Faversham where the visitors won the toss and elected to bat. Daniel James made 83, scoring over half the runs as the team were bowled out for 158. Andy Corcoran and Jamie Rigden took three wickets each. Brian Moody-smith took stunning figures of 6-9 from 4.4 overs and was well supported by Richard Tolson who took four wickets for 15 runs in just 10 overs as Faversham were rolled for 43.
