New crackdown on speeding
Police have launched a countywide crackdown on speeding drivers. Patrols are stopping drivers and reporting them for speeding, and breathalysing those found to have committed traffic offences. Kent and Medway Safety Camera Partnership and KCC will also support the campaign using speed camera vans. Ch Insp Tony Dyer, head of Kent’s roads policing unit, said: “Neighbourhoods across the county list speeding as being the second most important issue for police to tackle. This campaign will help educate drivers that speeding is not acceptable and Kent Police will work with our partners to enforce the speed limit to keep the county’s roads safe.” Police say there were five more people killed on Kent’s roads in 2015 than in 2014. The campaign continues until Sunday, August 28.
