Evening bus service changes

Bus passengers are warned of night time closure to Canterbury bus station this week and next.

Highways engineers began resurfacin­g St George’s Lane on Tuesday night and will continue until next Thursday – excluding the bank holiday weekend.

Initial work involves rebuilding manhole covers before the current road surface is milled in preparatio­n for relaying.

As a result the bus station is not operating from 9pm to 5am, with buses using alternativ­e stops in the surroundin­g area during those times.

All services after 9pm are operating via the following routes:

Sturry Road-bound buses from the Magistrate­s’ Court stop in Broad Street.

Whitstable and Favershamb­ound buses from Canterbury East Railway Station bus stop.

Dover, Sandwich and Dealbound buses from the Waitrose bus stop in New Dover Road.

Hawkinge and Folkestone­bound Gold16 buses from the Waitrose bus stop in New Dover Road.

Elham Valley and Folkestone­bound route 17 bus from the health centre bus stop in Old Dover Road.

The City route 22A buses to Hales Place and London Road Estate from Canterbury East Railway Station bus stop.

The City route 25A buses to Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Barton and Spring Lane Estates from the Waitrose bus stop in New Dover Road.

Passengers travelling from Whitstable and Faversham will need to get off at Pin Hill.

Passengers travelling from Sturry and Thanet will need to get off at the Magistrate­s’ Court in Broad Street.

Passengers travelling from Dover, Deal and Sandwich and on National Express will need to get off at the Waitrose bus stop in New Dover Road.
