Bracken loves an active life
The White Cliffs Walking Festival starts today (Thursday). This is just a selection of the organised walks: A comprehensive list of walks is on www. whitecliffswalkingfestival, org.uk Today (Thursday August 25) Four miles: History & Wildlife of the Western Heights - starting at 10am from Dover seafront. Eight miles: White Cliffs to St Margaret’s Bay - starting at 10am from Dover seafront (immediately after the opening ceremony). TOMORROW (Friday). 6.4 miles: Evening Dalliance in the Kent Countryside – starting at 4.30pm from opposite the Royal Oak pub, Nonington. SATURDAY One mile: Reptile Rambles – starting at 9am and 11am from Samphire Hoe. If you have time, patience and enjoy an outdoor life, then collie cross Bracken could prove a perfect companion. Currently in the care of the Dogs Trust Canterbury, the two-year-old is said to be a sensitive boy who needs lots of positive interaction to build trust. Staff say he would also benefit from further training, which they can help provide, and is looking for an active family home - but with adults only. He especially enjoys country walks but can bark with frustration when on the leadp. Bracken also prefers a quieter environment, although could potentially live with another calm dog. For more information about him contact the re-homing centre on 01227 792505 or visit them in Radfall Road, Chestfield, CT5 3ER. Opening times are noon to 4pm, except Wednesdays, and until 7.30pm on Thursdays.
SUNDAY 1.5 miles: Writers Walk (linear) – starting at 2pm from the Dover Patrol Memorial, St Margaret’s. OTHER WALKS: SUNDAY 11 miles – starting at 9am from Chilham lower car park, pub stop: East Kent Rambling Club. WEDNESDAY Five miles – starting at 10.30am from Challock village hall: East Kent Rambling Club. 10 miles – 10am from the café at Minnis Bay seafront, lunch stop at Reculver: East Kent Rambling Club.
