It will perform in the church San Gregorio al Celio in Rome to celebrate 50 years of the city’s Anglican Centre.

The 21 boys and 12 adult members will join the Sistine Chapel Choir on Thursday, October 6.

Master of the choristers David Flood said: “It is a great privilege for the choir to travel to Rome.

“We are honoured and delighted to be part of the ceremonies, especially to be invited by the Vatican.“

Canterbury Cathedral is looking to award substantial scholarships to boys, aged seven or eight, who would like to join the choir in September 2017.
