Club records fall at White Cliffs meet

Faversham SC sent more than a dozen of their finest swimmers to compete at the Dover White Cliffs meet. Competing against the host club Dover Lifeguards as well as Herne Bay, Hythe and Sheerness, six Faversham swimmers went on to achieve their Kent considerat­ion times for 2017 with some smashing club records in the process. In the 50m freestyle, Bella Holt topped the podium in the girls’ 9/10-years age group with a personal best time of 35.83sec. Emily Holt came second in the 13/14 event in a PB of 30.47, while Sophie Molton was third in the 11/12 race (PB 32.32). All three reached their Kent considerat­ion times with Emily Holt taking the club record in the 14-year-old girls’ event. Bella then completed her gold medal haul by taking the multistrok­e Skins title after battling against five other 9/10-year-old girls. Other swimmers winning gold medals included 15-year-old Emily Ing in the 15/16 200m breaststro­ke in a PB of 3.35.84 and Rebecca Crouch, 17, who took first in the over-17 200m freestyle, 50m and 100m backstroke. Both girls also competed in the over-15 Skins event with Ing finishing sixth and Crouch achieving a bronze. Bella Holt continued her success with silver medals and PBS in the 9/10 100m individual medley in 1.32.35, the 50m breaststro­ke in 47.92 (KCT), the 200m freestyle in 2.47.30 (KCT) and 100m backstroke in 1.34.22 (KCT). Amy Coupe took silver medals in the 13/14 50m backstroke and 100m backstroke in Kent considerat­ion times, while Emily Holt won a silver medal in the 13/14 200m freestyle in a club record 2.22.99 which was also a KCT. Silvers were also won by Ing in the 15/16 100m breaststro­ke, Eva Mcintyre in the 13/14 100m breaststro­ke in a PB of 1.30.02, Mia Kirk in the 13/14 100m freestyle in a PB of 1.08.47 and Olivia Springett in the 9/10 50m fly with a PB of 47.42. Coupe went on to complete her collection with bronze medals in the 13/14 200m backstroke (club record, PB and KCT 2.39.25) and 100m freestyle (PB 1.09.78). She also achieved a KCT in her 50m fly event (PB of 35.06). Ing continued her success by snatching bronze in the 15/16 50m breaststro­ke with Kirk on fine form to take a bronze in the 13/14 50m fly (PB 34.85) to gain her first KCT. Rebecca Crouch also took home a bronze medal in the over-15 individual medley. Eva Mcintyre achieved her KCT in the 13/14 50m breaststro­ke with a club record and PB of 40.31. She also broke club records in the 13-year-olds’ 100m IM (1.18.24), finishing sixth in the Skins contest and then went on to take the club record in the 200m freestyle with a time of 2.31.31. PBS were also achieved by Cameron Bullard, Luke Butterfill and Molly FletcherHe­bden, who won three fourth and a sixth place medal, Niah Stemp and Oscar Williams who was fifth in the 9/10 50m backstroke. The Faversham swimmers head to a competitio­n hosted by Orpington OJAYS at Medway Park next weekend
