Tables add attraction to use of field

-

Supporters of the Kingsmead Field in Canterbury have welcomed a bench and picnic area.

Two timber picnic tables have been installed and work has been completed on the first part of a perimeter footpath, linking it to the main entrance to the field.

A picnic area was a high priority in last year’s public consultation on enhancing the field.

Cllr Neil Baker, chairman of Canterbury City Council’s community committee, said: “These will undoubtedly result in more people using the field and making the most of this valuable community space.”

The picnic area was paid for with contributions from developers, funding from Canterbury north-east county councillor Graham Gibbens and money raised by Friends of Kingsmead Field.

Other improvements planned include a toddlers’ play area and extending the footpath around the whole field.
