THOUSANDS OF LEAFLETS DISTRIBUTED, SAYS UNIVERSITY

The University of Kent says more than 10,000 leaflets were distributed to areas north of the city and several hundred put in the Tyler Kiln pub.

Spokesman Sandy Fleming said: “We have actively encouraged all those who have attended the exhibitions or visited the university’s public consultation website to give feedback on such proposals.

“All comments received will be taken into consideration in the development of a more concrete set of proposals.

“These will be the subject of further public consultation within the next six months.

“Comments received at this stage will be fed into the development of a proposed masterplan which, next year, will go before Canterbury City Council for consideration.”

She added: “The university has not asked for the removal of posters about the masterplan.”
