Gripping West End hit The Woman in Black is coming to the Marlowe Theatre next month.
Stephen Mallatratt’s dramatic adaptation of author Susan Hill’s acclaimed ghost story arrives in Canterbury on November 1.
The play, directed by Robin Herford, remains true to the book while transforming it into a chilling piece of theatre.
It tells the story of lawyer Arthur Kipps, played by David Acton, who is obsessed with a curse he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a woman in black.
He engages a sceptical young actor, played by Matthew Spencer, to help him tell his terrifying story and the events build up to a horrifying climax.
The Woman In Black was first performed in 1987. It reached the West End in 1989 and has been a major success ever since, spreading across the globe.
A major film version was released in February 2012, starring Daniel Radcliffe, becoming the highest-grossing British horror film of all time.
The Woman In Black is at The Marlowe Theatre from Tuesday, November 1, to Saturday, November 5, with performances at 7.30pm and 2.30pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. There will be an audio-described performance at 2.30pm on Saturday.
Tickets are £16 to £33 from the box office on 01227 787787 or at marlowetheatre. com.
