Soft Cell’s singer Marc in concert
Soft Cell vocalist Marc Almond and saxophonist John Harle will be performing at the Sounds New Contemporary Music Festival in Canterbury next month.
The performance coincides with Harle’s 60th birthday and he will be joined by friends for an evening of his music, which has earned him awards for compositions for film and TV.
Almond, fresh from his performance for the David Bowie Prom at the Royal Albert Hall, will include tracks from his 2014 album The Tyburn Tree which features a cycle of songs depicting the macabre, supernatural history of the City of London.
Joining them will be English classical soprano Sarah Leonard, keyboardist Steve Lodder, bassist Dudley Phillips and Jess Gillam, winner of BBC Young Musician award for woodwind.
The concert takes place at the University of Kent’s Colyer-fergusson Building at 7.30pm on Sunday, November 13. Tickets are £20 or £10 for students and are available through the Sounds New website www. soundsnew.org.uk or the Gulbenkian Theatre on 01227 769075.
