We’re still the dancing queens

-

Care home residents have proved this week that you’re never too old to throw some shapes on the dance floor.

Pupils from Spires Academy dance academy, aged between 11 and 16, visited Meadow View Residential Home in Blackthorn Road, Hersden, to get the elderly on their feet.

Yvonne Keem, 78, who used to dance in her younger years, said: “The performance gave me goosebumps – watching the children brightened up my day.”

The Sanctuary Care Home’s activities leader Christina York added: “Our residents love dancing – we are all hooked on Strictly Come Dancing and many of our residents still have a move or two so having youngsters pop in and perform for us was such a lovely thing.”

After the dancers performed, there was some seated rock ‘n’ roll dance moves with the residents.
