Jeavons maintains his fine run of form

Hoath B saw-off battling club-mates Hoath C 7-2 in the Premier Division, though five games went the distance with three more going to four legs. Simon Hillier and Mike Chapman won two each for B while David Jeavons maintained his 100% record with three more points. Mike Howard fought hard to earn C’s two points. Three clean wins from Ron Rowley helped Herne Bay A whitewash guests Heron B 9-0, with Peter Roberts and Andy Cannon also claiming three wins each. Chestfield Warriors 1 had to rely on Alan Taylor continuing his unbeaten record for their three points against leaders Iron Room A, who managed a fine 6-3 away win at the Warriors club thanks to two each from Phil Morford, Phil Saxby and Kevin Powell. Harry Law’s three wins helped Faversham A to a 7-2 victory over Heron A, with two more wins each from Nicolas Waters and Allen Crowe. Roger Pingram provided the only opposition with two clean wins. Warriors 4 registered a hard-fought 6-3 win over Whitstable Natives A in Division 1 thanks to two wins each from Denis Cannon, Kell Davies and John Wickings, while Barrie Thomas won two for the visitors. Bay C bounced back with a satisfying 6-3 derby win against Bay D with three clean wins from Bob Edwards and two from Steve Furber. Iron Room B sneaked past Iron Room C 5-4 in a close derby due mainly to an unbeaten treble by M Holiday. Five singles matches needed five legs to determine a result. Peter Coles and Geoff Jordan won two each for C. Paul Whittaker continued his fine form with three clean wins to provide Warriors 2 with a 6-3 win over visiting Faversham B. Ricky Kay contribute­d two more while Callum Mcdonagh had two excellent wins for Faversham. Two-man Choughs B lost 7-2 to Warriors 3 despite Russell Swain’s double as Paul Davies won all his games for the visitors. Bay G held off dogged Natives B to edge a 5-4 win in Division 2. Natives came from behind to level the scores three times but with the score locked at 4-4 Danny Reardon won the final singles game to clinch victory. Reardon and Simon Chambers won two apiece while Tony Causer maintained his 100% record with three wins for Natives. Keith Ackland and Kevin West had wins apiece with a further two from Dave Mason in a convincing 8-1 home win for Blean B over Choughs C. Bay E showed their determinat­ion to bounce back from relegation, overwhelmi­ng visitors Warriors 7 8-1 to stay second. Giulio Guariglia and Steve Richardson won three each and Frank Carlucci two more. Unbeaten leaders Blean A consolidat­ed top spot with an 8-1 win at Warriors 5, to remain 12 points clear. Tom Kwok won his three games without conceding a leg, Crystal Tseng added three more, and Rob Easton two. In a Division 3 derby match, Warriors 12 were pushed to the limit to edge a 5-4 home win over Warriors 11 thanks to two wins each for Lewis Marsh and Rowan Brough, though Stuart Murray-williams picked up three wins for the losers. Derek Whidett’s three wins led the way to a 5-4 win for Blean C over Warriors 8. Caroline Hanson and Bill Hackney had two wins each for the visitors. Bay I came out on top in a derby thriller against Bay H, who rallied from 3-0 down to make it 4-4, only for Colin Chaston to pip Josie Prowse 3-2 to snatch victory. Chaston and Dave Goddard won two each for I with Paul Messenger and Gerry Allen doing likewise for H. Chris Near won twice but Bay J lost 5-4 at home to Faversham D for whom Alan Culver won all three and Colin Floodgate added two. Warriors 10 swamped visiting Bay K, who could only manage to win one leg in a 9-0 whitewash. Tim Platt and Peter Mccaig had three clean wins with three more for Bernard Ebeck. In Division 4 Warriors 17 lost 5-0 to Warriors 14 for whom Tony Marsh and David Hunnisett won all their games, Bay L’s Linda Sopp and Val Rankin were 5-0 winners against Warriors 13, showing their experience to win without dropping a leg.
