RUGBY: SATURDAY NIGHT WITH A DIFFERENCE FOR CITY CLUB
Despite it being the middle of the National 2 South season, Canterbury RFC are planning a Saturday night out in west London. The city club won’t be hitting any bars however and the only bright lights they will see will be the floodlights at Hazelwood where they will face London Irish Amateurs in a 7.15pm kick-off. Head of rugby Andy Pratt was excited about the prospect and said: “It’s nice to do something different because we generally find ourselves doing the same things all the time. It’s something that breaks up the season. “An evening kick-off should be good and I think the result will be decided by whoever deals with the circumstances the better. “Obviously most teams train under lights and many will have played under them before too, but it will be something different for a lot of us.” The city club were within a whisker of an eye-catching win over big-guns Taunton at the Marine Travel Ground on Saturday and Pratt added: “We are definitely capable of winning up there. Losing to Worthing (two weeks ago) was a step backwards for us but we were back to creating chances on Saturday against a very good side, we just couldn’t finish them off.” JJ Murray returns after a groin injury.
