Iron Room A saw their lead at the top of the Canterbury & District Table Tennis Associatio­n Premier Division cut to four points by second-placed Hoath A’s fine 7-2 away win against Heron A. John Ferguson and Simon Rudland both won three games each. Heron B were four points and two places ahead of visiting Hoath C before their match but Clive Hollingsbe­e (3), Mike Howard (3) and Chris Hearn (2) engineered a superb 8-1 away win to leapfrog their hosts. Herne Bay B crashed to an 8-1 defeat against 3rd placed club-mates Bay A for whom Ron Rowley and Peter Roberts won three each with two more wins by Andy Cannon. After losing his 100% record last week, Bob Edwards bounced back to win all his matches for Bay C at Division 1 leaders Warriors 3. His team-mates were, however, unable to contribute any further points as Dirk Froebrich, Adam Dyer and Ian Blogg won two each in a 6-3 win to go 11 points clear. Short-handed Bay D suffered a 6-3 home defeat to Faversham B, despite Keith Blackmore’s two wins, with Faversham’s Nicolas Waters also winning two. Second-placed Warriors 2 edged to a 5-4 win over mid-table Whitstable Natives A. Paul Whittaker maintained his 100% record with three wins, plus two by Ricky Kay while Adam Goodall won two for the Natives. Blean A surged to a 9-0 victory over travelling Bay G to open up a 20-point gap at the top of Division 2. Paul Simmonds, Crystal Tseng and Rob Easton won all their games. Warriors 5 inflicted a 7-2 home win over clubmates Warriors 6 as Simon Howe smashed his way to a treble with another from John Metcalfe. Bay F lost 6-3 in their derby match against 2nd placed Bay E thanks to three wins each for Giulio Guariglia and Steve Richardson. A 7-2 away win for Warriors 7 at Natives B helped the Warriors move into fourth, a place above the Natives. Aaron Hollingswo­rth continued his fine form with three wins, ably supported by two wins each for Jill Weaver and Linda Wickings. Tony Causer had both Natives points. Three wins from Lewis Marsh, promoted to play for Warriors 9 and two from Sebastian Keeble ensured a 6-3 win over visiting Bay I in Division 3. Colin Chaston won two for Bay. Brother George Marsh played up for Warriors 11 and also won all his matches, although his team lost 6-3 to Blean C, for whom Peter Cole, Laurie Newman and Derek Whiddett scored two each. The Marsh brothers also won three points each as leaders Warriors 12 ousted Warriors 10 7-2 in the derby. Warriors 8 welcomed second-placed Faversham D but their guests eased to a 7-2 win. Harry Hutchinson led the way with a treble, supported by three wins from Colin Floodgate. Division 4 leaders Bay L were without a game and Warriors 14 seized the chance to reduce the gap at the top to six points with a 4-1 derby win over Warriors 15. Tony Marsh had two wins for the victors while Warriors 15 also went down 4-1 against Bay M, for whom Brendon Miles won two. Bay M also played a catch-up match against Warriors 13 and a 3-2 win helped them to move up to fourth in the league. Paul Miles won both his games.
