Jemmett takes honours on countback

Sally Jemmett came out on top as Chestfield Ladies played their Ladies Supper Stableford competitio­n last Thursday. Jemmett carded 35 points to pip Penny Entwistle and Maureen Fentiman on countback. In a 2-ball Texas Scramble, played on Saturday, the overall winners were Bob Thompson and Andy Simpson with a net 64.0. Second place went to Peter Newman and David Wale with 65.4 and in third were Gianni Vitiello and Tom Johnston, with 65.6. Sunday’s Poppy Appeal Stableford was won by Wale with 38 points, beating Mark Norman on countback. In third place, in the lowhandica­p section, was Paul Williamson, also with 38 points, who beat club captain Paul Robertson by just one point. In the 13-and-higher handicap section, the winner was Steve Foster with 37 points. Runner-up was Gary Mewett, with 36 points, beating Rob Tucker on countback. Fourth place went to David Bone with 35 points. The Club raised £ 80 from this event which will be donated to the Remembranc­e Day Charity Appeal.

Whitstable & Seasalter GC’S Old Salts Section held their annual meeting during which outgoing captain John Wegner handed over the reins to the incoming skipper David Atkins. All Old Salts members present thanked Wegner for his commitment and enthusiasm during what has been a successful year. The competitio­ns during the year saw success for a range of members.
