Wincheap lights won’t help traffic
I read with disbelief and disgust the article about traffic lights solving the problem of the Wincheap roundabout (‘I’ll Pay For Ring Road Lights’, Kentish Gazette, November 17).
Developer Mark Quinn must be living on a different planet!
There is no way lights are going to solve the problem of Wincheap and the roundabout.
The situation will also only get massively worse if and when the Thanington developments take place.
Adding nearly 2,000 houses with no other access to the city centre but Wincheap is a disaster.
I also read with disbelief the bit later in the article about a GP surgery in the Thanington resource centre.
I worked as a GP in Lincolnshire for 30 years before taking early retirement to escape the stresses of massive overwork and moving back to my home county.
All over the UK GPS are retiring early due to stress.
They are not being replaced as young doctors do not want to work in such a dreadful environment.
This is leading to a constant stream of surgery closures nationally.
Just where on earth does Mr Quinn think he is going to recruit these doctors from for his new surgery?
This is just another cynical ploy by a developer to get permission for a development that is totally inappropriate for the area by promising something that can never be delivered. Dr David Riley Manor Close, Thanington, Canterbury.
