Making ordinary extraordinary...
These evocative pictures come from the lens of photographer Guy Packman.
The 43-year-old specialises in taking black and white photographs of ordinary people doing ordinary things and is especially fond of taking pictures in Canterbury.
His images are now being featured on websites dedicated to the craft known as street photography.
Guy, who lives at Wicketts End in Whitstable, said: “I got interested in photography after hurting my back and watching a few videos about it while I was laid up. “Afterwards, I went out and bought a camera and found that taking photographs was a good excuse to get out and do something. “What I do is street level photography. It’s everyday people doing everyday things in everyday life.” Guy’s image of a solitary figure begging in the St George’s underpass has been used in a film made for the Street Level Photography website and has appeared on other photography sites. The former Sir William Nottidge pupil, who works for the Royal British Legion, added: “Although I live in Whitstable, it’s Canterbury where I take photographs. It’s a brilliant a place to do so. It’s got very good architecture and there’s always something going on. “I find that black and white pictures are more emotive. They capture the feeling of a scene in a way that you can’t achieve with colour.”
