Gardiner goal earns a point

Herne Bay

-

Herne Bay men’s 2nds remain top of Kent Open Premier B after a hard-earned point at Holcombe 4ths on Saturday. Lee Gardiner was on target for Bay in the 1-1 draw but the plaudits went to manof-the-match Jamie Ulyett in goal. Bay 1sts had a frustrating day of inactivity as visiting Tunbridge Wells 2nds pulled out within hours of the push back due to a keeper crisis. The game has been re-arranged for December 17. The 3rds moved up to second in Division 1 after a 5- 0 success at home to Sevenoaks 6ths. James Nash led the way with a hat-trick while Aaron White and Kriss White got the others. The 4ths suffered a second straight defeat, losing 2- 0 at K Sports at Cobdown in Division 4. The visitors began with a bare 11 and then lost Steve Malley to a head injury within 15 minutes and despite remaining competitive, they went 1- 0 down just before the break and were gradually worn down in a scrappy second half. Matt Young was on target to help the 5ths maintain their 100% record in Division 4, although they struggled to overcome determined visitors Maidstone 6ths 2-1. Bay ladies’ 1sts remain unbeaten and are top of Kent League Division 1 after a 3-1 home win against Bromley/beckenham 4ths. Skipper Lucy Marks, Amy Mason and Rachel Gentry were on the scoresheet. The 2nds remain in third place in Division 4 despite a fifth straight win, at Gravesend 2nds. Gemma Cathcart netted twice and Holly Barton and Amber Potter got the others in a 4-2 success. The 3rds dropped their first points in six games and slipped to second in Division 5 after being held to a goalless draw at home to K Sports 2nds.
