Help the needy this Christmas

-

By now, I am sure you are already making plans for Christmas and looking forward to spending time with your family and friends, but not everyone in our community is so fortunate.

Since 1952, the Lord Mayor of Canterbury’s Christmas Gift Fund has been working hard to bring some Christmas cheer to the elderly and infirm, the lonely and those who find it difficult to keep pace with modern life, and to younger people who find it hard to make Christmas special for their families.

Names of worthy recipients are suggested to us by agencies, organisations and medical practitioners.

The letter of thanks received by successive Mayors and Lord Mayors shows how much the parcels and gift vouchers are appreciated.

So as you make your plans for Christmas this year, please help us to make the festive season special for others.

We would welcome any donation towards the cost of 500 grocery parcels and 135 gift vouchers for children that we will be distributing this year.

If you can help us please send a cheque, payable to The Lord Mayor of Canterbury’s Christmas Gift Fund to The Treasurer (Gift Fund), c/o Robert Brett House, Milton Manor Farm, Ashford Road, Canterbury CT4 7PP

Or if you prefer you can make a direct payment using the following details:

Account Name: Lord Mayor of Canterbury’s Christmas Gift Fund Sort Code: 309160 Account Number: 03328508 Reference: Donation The fund is able to claim the tax paid by individual taxpayers, so if you pay UK tax, please consider helping us further and completing a Gift Aid Declaration.

This can be sent to you upon request or can be downloaded from our website christmasgiftfund.co.uk

On behalf of the Lord Mayor and all the members of the committee, may I wish you all that you would wish yourselves.

Have a happy Christmas! Sally Waters Christmas 2016 Appeal, the Lord Mayor of Canterbury’s Christmas Gift Fund.
