Concert by star of the keyboard
GOING OUT
An international organ and keyboard star will be celebrating Christmas with a concert in Faversham.
Chris Powell will perform at the West Faversham Community Centre in Bysing Wood Road on Friday, December 23, from 7.30pm.
Chris began his career entertaining holidaymakers and visitors to the Blackpool Tower, before setting off on a world tour.
He has since performed in Holland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the USA, and has this year played in Australia and New Zealand.
Organiser Neilson Matthews said: “Playing the state-of-the-art Roland Atelier instrument, the label ‘organ’ is perhaps a very loose one as Powell is able to recreate accurate sounds of pianos, guitars, symphony orchestras, human voices and of course the traditional organ with two hands and two feet.
“His programme will include the likes of music from James Last, Andre Rieu and Glenn Miller, along with seasonal favourites from the likes of Shakin’ Stevens and the Pogues, together with popular songs and carols.”
Tickets are £7.50. For details call Neilson on 01795 590558. An eight-piece brass band “like no other” will be performing at the Alexander Centre in Faversham this weekend.
No Limit Street Band will be playing covers of songs by Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Jamiroquai, Katy Perry, the Eurythmics, A-ha and many more. Doors open at 8pm on Saturday. Tickets are available from the Alexander Centre in Preston Street and are £10 in advance and £12 on the door.
