Chislet Colliery make it a double

Cup holders Smugglers Inn won a vital match over the Angling Club B in their qualificat­ion quest as they returned to winning ways.

Having trailed 1-0, they fought back to win 8-3 although the Anglers gained some consolatio­n with a 100-checkout from Craig Reeves.

Smugglers’ John Hughes and Mick Morgan checked out on 108 and 126 respective­ly and their team-mate Sean Purcell hit a 180. The third set of cup group games were played in the Herne Bay & District Winter Darts League.

In Group C, the all-division 1 clash saw Chislet Colliery Club enhance their qualificat­ion hopes with a 7-4 win over the Rising Sun.

The teams met the previous week in the league, where Chislet Colliery Club ran out last-game 6-5 victors and the match was again tight.

In the Three Tuns derby, the B team went 3-1 up before a fightback from the A team who took the next three singles to lead through Brian Govan, Max Claughton and Ben Swinfield.

However, it was the B team who finished strongly. Their skipper Louis Reynolds levelled before Clive Pout sealed a 5-4 win for the B side in a match which saw Keiran Boorman take out 119.

Three Horseshoes B lifted themselves up the table with a 7-2 away win over Bull B. Wins from Chris Bedo, Neil Cole and Rob Jones made it 5-1, with Jones checking-out from 115 on their way to victory.

The Bull A travelled to the Football Club and came from 2-1 down to lead 3-2 through Martin Apps and Ben Felts. The Football Club’s Rhys Leader then levelled and with the match at 4-4. it was the Bull’s Brian Gossling who came out triumphant.

Team-mate Ben Felts earlier had a 154 checkout.
