TRIUMPH AGAIN IN THE PARKER TOOLS CANTERBURY 10 MILE ROAD RACE PICTURES: BARRY GOODWIN

Jill Cliff (Deal Tri Club) 1:07.53; Ladies’ V65 Sarah Marzaioli (Hastings Runners) 1:34.57.. The men’s team prize went to Petts Wood Runners (Simon Fox, Roger Vilardell, Simon Dahdi and Stephen Pond), while the ladies’ crown was taken by Paddock Wood AC thanks to Heslop, Day and Sarah Shepheard. There was a turn- out of 37 Canterbury Harriers, with 17 debuts and seven PBS. Simon Jones was the first Harrier home, in 12th position overall in 57:41. Yiannis Christodou­lou came 28th in 1:01.11, while Paul Knight had an excellent debut in 1:02.50.

Gemma Jeffrey gained a huge PB in 1:16.54 and Melanie Christodou­lou stopped the clock in 1:19.42.

Faversham Running Club were represente­d by 16 members with their fastest finisher Martin Pleace in a time of 1:12.02, The club’s fastest lady Samantha Padfield in 1:15.14.

Al so spot ted running were 365 marathon man Ben Rogers who ran a marathon a day for a year in aid of charity and Gillingham and Rainham MP Rehman Chishti.

Race director Glenn Mousley said: “The race ran smoothly with some excellent times, despite the challengin­g conditions.

“The runners should be thanked for entering as should the various sponsors who supported the event. We will be back in 2018.”

Prizes were presented by Mousley and Invicta East Kent coaching co-ordinator Peter Mullervy.

The event was also supported the Pilgrims Hospices and a donation of £1,500 was collected by their event organiser Deborah Kellond.

Race winner Abel Tsegay (No.1178), of Invicta EK, with third placed finisher Michael Coleman (No. 1467)
