League leaders Market A romped to an 8-1 win at short-handed Brents A. Leading 2-1 out of the doubles, the visitors won all the singles matches – with two more conceded – through Pete Davies, Pat Clancy, Chris Dadd and Jordan Dadd, who hit a 180. Railway kept up their pursuit of the Market with a 5-4 home victory over the Castle A. They came out of the doubles 2-1 up and Richie Stevens made it 3-1 before Castle fought back to make it 3-3 through Lewis Gore and Steve Wright. Wins from Railway’s Phil Nutting and Ant Halls sealed victory though Bob Mason won the last singles. In the first Three Horseshoes derby, the B team got the better of the doubles and went 3-1 up with an opening singles win from Chris Bedo. Jordan Harding got one back for A but the B team took an unassailable 6-2 lead through Rob Forber, John Edwards and Neil Cole, before Paul Davis won the last as a consolation. Both Harding and Davis hit maximums. Three Tuns A travelled to the Castle B who took an unassailable 5-1 lead, winning the first three singles through Wayne Thomas, Brad Broadbridge and Steve Clemmence. Tuns restored some pride by winning the last three singles to see the match finish 5-4. The Football Club hosted Market B, who quickly saw themselves 4-1 up with opening singles wins coming from Richie Pennel and Craig Preston. Wins from Mick Lee, Shoesy Mills and debutant Shane Love brought the match score level at 4-4 but in the decisive game Market’s Paul Jones beat David Miles to seal the victory. Bull A took a 4-2 lead against Three Tuns B. Clive Pout pulled one back but Ben Felts and Brian Gossling sealed a 6-3 win. Bull B hosted the short-handed Brents B, who still managed to race into a 3-1 lead. Bull skipper Dave Kirby pulled one back with the aid of a maximum and although Brent captain Shaun Gore put his side 4-2 ahead, a win from Jim Wynn and two conceded games saw the Bull B edge to a 5-4 win.
