Brisley clinches gold
Athletics
Invicta East Kent youngster Charlie Brisley produced an outstanding performance in the South of England Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill on Saturday.
Running on a hilly, wet and root-ridden course, Brisley secured gold by five seconds in the under-15 boys’ race.
Matthew Stonier ran well for 24th while Sam Newson was 116th and Alex Holliday 216th.
Alexandra Millard made a strong strong start in the under-15 girls and sat seventh before producing a late kick to pick off the runner ahead of her.
Clubmate Allegra Hinds came home 144th.
Jess Carley looked like she was enjoying her under-17 women’s race as she raced up the steep start and maintained an even pace throughout to finish in 75th.
Both Marcus Etheridge and Joe Whitby ran credibly in the under-17 men’s race placing 85th and 160th respectively, while Sarah Hall finished 44th in the under-20 women.
