Barrett double at heart of away victory

Canterbury 2nds kept up the pace in London Premier Division with a 4-0 cruise at Richmond 2nds.

Sam Barrett opened and completed the scoring for the second-placed city club either side of goals from Alex Holton and Richard Keir.

The Pilgrims lost ground in South League Kent/sussex Regional 2 after a 2-1 defeat at Crowboroug­h.

Thomas Degiovanni cancelled out a first-half opener but the hosts snatched the winner two minutes from time.

Two goals from Hugo CreaneyBir­ch helped the 3rds beat Ashford 2nds in Kent Area Division 1, although they had led 3-0 at half-time.

The struggling 4ths lost 4-0 at Folkestone 2nds in the same division while in Division 2, the Millers are second after a 2-1 defeat at Old Williamson­ians 2nds, with Neil Barnes netting the consolatio­n.

The 5ths were edged out 1-0 at Ashford 4ths in Kent Open Premier B while the Griffins lost 4-1 at Cobdown 1A in Premier C, despite going ahead through Gary Laslett.

The Squires were 5-2 winners at Marden 3rds in Division 1 but the Friars went down 4-2 at Old Bordenian 6ths in Division 3 with Hugo Creaney-birch netting two late goals after Bords went 4-0 up in the opening half.

Canterbury Ladies 2nds salvaged a 1-1 draw at Broxbourne in East League Division 1 South with Moira Clewes levelling and keeper Becca Smith ensuring a point.

The 2As were 5-0 winners against Gore Court in Division 2 South East while the 3rds won 2-1 at Old Bordenians with two goals from Paris Gasson helping the city club move away from the foot of Kent League Premier Division.

The 3As lost 3-2 against Burnt Ash in Division 1 while the over-45s lost 8-1 to Sevenoaks in the National Cup first round.
