Friends’ gift for X-ray patients

-

Hospital patients having X-rays for pain relief in the day surgery unit at Kent and Canterbury should now find the experience less uncomfortable.

It follows the installation of a new state-of-the-art £44,000 operating table donated by the League of Friends.

Last week, unit manager Ed Curtin demonstrated the new table to league members and explained why it cost so much.

It is made of a single piece of carbon fibre which can be rotated and tilted on its base electronically.

As well as being more comfort- able for patients, it is easier for staff to use.

Mr Curtin also showed league members around the unit, which costs £5,000 a day to run.
