A team claim the spoils in first derby

The first Market Inn derby of the season took place in the Faversham League. The B team led 2-1 after the doubles before the A team fought back to take a 4-2 lead through Chris Dadd, Darren Butcher and Jordan Dadd. The B team made it 4-3 with Craig Preston’s win but Peter Davies sealed victory before Paul Jones won the last as a consolatio­n for B. The match saw a 149 checkout from Pat Clancy, a 113 checkout from Nobby Gore and a 111 checkout from Davies. The Railway hosted the Three Tuns B and the score was 3-1 before wins from Mark Bryant, Richie Stevens, Ant Halls and Justin Dane helped set up a 7-2 victory. Railway’s Richard Annand hit a maximum 180. Three Horseshoes B hosted Bull A and leading 3-0 after the the doubles they made short work of sealing the victory as they won the opening four singles through Chris Bedo, Rob Forber, Mark Forber and John Edwards. The Bull won the last two singles through Martin Apps and Ted Howell. The Castle A travelled to the Brents A who took a 2-1 lead into the singles. The Castle’s Lee Grigsby levelled but the Brents took the next two singles to take a 4-2 lead through George Harris and Kenny Boswell. Steve Wright pulled one back for the Castle but Neville Boakes and Brents skipper John Gates ensured a 6-3 win. The Castle B were at home to the Football Club and the contest was poised at 3-2 before the Castle pulled clear through Keith Ralph, Shane Clemmence, Wayne Thomas and Kyle Boakes to triumph 7-2. Clemmence hit a 180. The Three Tuns A enjoyed an 8-1 home victory over the Brents B, helped by singles wins from Benn Swinfield, Dan Harman, Rory Gatward, Max Claughton and Dave Perry. Three Horseshoes A travelled to the Bull B and the teams were level before the Bull took the five remaining singles thanks to Mike Cooper, Steve Alexander, Graham Amer, Jim Wynn and skipper Dave Kirby.
