DARTS: LLEWELLYN SETTLES SEE-SAW CONTEST TO SEND UNBEATEN LEADERS SIX POINTS CLEAR

At the halfway point in the Herne Bay & District Winter Darts League, all eyes were on the top-of-the-table clash between East Station Snooker Club in second and unbeaten Division 1 leaders the Chislet Colliery Club, three points ahead.

The Snooker Club led 2-1 coming out of the pairs but the Chislet Club won both threes games to turn the game.

Mo Waithalia and Jim Peacock made it 4-3 to the Snooker Club but Chislet’s Paul Bunting made it 4-4 and Martin Hackett put them back in front.

The Snooker Club levelled again through Geoff Peacock but in the decisive singles, Chislet’s Ross Llewellyn saw off Ian Brice to take his side six points clear at the top.

A 6-5 home win for the Rising Sun over the Heron saw them move onto level points with the Snooker Club, with only one leg separating the sides.

The Heron trailed 3-2 going into the singles games but Matt Elliott and landlord Bob Elliott turned the game, only for the Riser to roar back with Mike Tucker, Nigel Grace and John Webster to secure the win.

A 7-4 win for the Angling Club B at the Catholic Club saw the Anglers leapfrog their opponents into fifth.

Leading 4-1, singles wins from Mike Joynes, Chris Davis and Ashley Sands ensured the win. Anglers’ Reece Kiley hit a 180. Premier Division leaders and reigning champions Divers Arms were beaten 7-4 at home to Whitstable Cricket Club who registered their first league points of the season.

The Cricket Club stunned the champions by racing into a 4-0 lead and although singles wins from Dean Owen, Jason Adby and Chris Howard saw Divers level the scores, a man-of-thematch performanc­e from Jordan Dadd saw him defeat Mark Sayer with three 12-dart legs and the Cricket Club secured the win through Pat Clancy and Keith Ralph. Cricket Club skipper Chris Dadd finished from 105 while Adby checkedout on 128.

Hampton Inn inflicted Angling Club A’s first league defeat with a 9-2 away win, a result which sees the Hampton go top of the Premier and the Anglers drop to fourth.

Clive Johnson, Steve Moys, Peter Furner, Paul Dawkins and Dan Parker won their singles to secure the rout, with Johnson and Parker hitting 180s, as did Anglers’ Mike Brett.

The Smugglers Inn had to come from behind to win 7-4 at home to the Tally Ho. Jason Cork and Adam Cork put Tally 4-3 ahead but Sean Purcell, Mick Morgan, Jim Marsh and Nick Smith wrapped-up the win.

Monument B brushed aside surprise team Coach & Horses A 23-2 in a one-sided affair to strengthen their Whitstable & District Thursday night Darts League title claim. It all could have been different if Stuart Rule had hit the bullseye for a 170 finish.

Tom Hadler, Darren Abbott and Roy Gough all won five, with Gough hitting a 180, while Steve Murray and Malcolm Gallagher won four with Gallagher also hitting a 108 checkout.

Monument A moved into second after beating Coach & Horses B 17-8. Nigel Boeg had a 100% record and Pete Lawrence won four.

Two Brewers Q edged into third thanks to a 15-10 win over Labour Club. Richard Stepney won five for the Q team, while Labour’s Robbie Luton bagged four.

Two Brewers Tornadoes are off the bottom after a 14-11 success over Two Brewers Anglers. Nick Axford steered the Tornadoes home with four wins, while Bill Emptage won five for the Anglers.

Labour Club Homeless beat British Legion B 14-11. Dan Jackson remains unbeaten after five wins, with Darren Brownlee also winning five and hitting a 180.
