Litter pickers find car park machine

-

A city council parking machine was among the items found during a community litter pick in Canterbury on Sunday.

The machine had been ripped out of the ground and smashed open by thieves before being dumped on the field at the foot of Vauxhall Avenue.

Council bosses said the machine was stolen from a car park in Reculver at the end of February.

Anti-litter campaigner Sian Pettman was among those who took part in the litter pick.

She said: “First we saw parking tickets all over the place and then one of the kids taking part came across the actual machine.

“It must have taken heavy machinery to get it out of the ground.”
