Struck off for texts to ex-pupil

-

A PE teacher who qualified in Canterbury has been struck off for at least three years after sending “sexually motivated” messages to an ex-pupil.

Christopher Tinsley, 32, pictured, sent the former student pictures of himself “semi naked” and wearing “only a towel around his waist”.

He also made “inappropriate contact” with her on Instagram, asked her if she fancied him and requested she send him a picture of herself in a football shirt and long socks.

His actions, which he admitted, occurred during his employment at Brockhill Park school in Hythe, where he worked from August 2007 to November 2015.

He was this month struck off by the National College for Teaching and Leadership on behalf of the Secretary of State for Education.

Good character reports were considered before the panel came to the decision to ban Tinsley from teaching “indefinitely”. He has 28 days to appeal.
