Firefighters share out the funds

-

Firefighters in Canterbury have been splashing out on charities with the proceeds of a collection in the city.

The crews raised more than £6,000 over an eight-day period in the lead up to Christmas.

The money has now been shared between three charities – the Pilgrims Hospice, the Fire Fighters Charity and the Molly Bubb Fund, which supports research into children’s brain tumours.

The donation to the hospice was presented by red watch manager Mark Jones and his crew.

He said: “Firefighters from all the watches in Canterbury took part in bucket collections, giving out stickers for the children and offering fire and safety advice. The community has been incredibly generous.”

The hospice says the donation will pay for 70 hours of nursing care.
