Geeks are beamed up for charity

Sci-fi fans dressed as their favourite fantasy characters for the 12th Geekfest festival.

The annual event was hosted by the University of Kent’s Science Fiction Society, taking place at Origins Bar in Darwin College on Friday night.

Classic hits like Star Trek and Star Wars provided inspiration for some of the costumes, with a green screen and geeky music adding to the entertainment.

The evening raised money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association in East Kent, which is also the Gazette’s charity of the year.
