Ends goalless

Canterbury Ladies

-

Canterbury Ladies produced a solid defensive display to earn a goalless draw at East Grinstead in their penultimate game of the Investec Premier Division season. While the visitors had to be at their best to keep the hosts at bay, Sarah Kerly caused problems down the right and the city club wasted two shortcorner chances before the break. After the interval, Helen Fagg was resolute in goal and Mel Clewlow deflected a penalty corner effort just wide. The 2nds secured second spot in East League Division 1 South and promotion to the Premier League with a 5-0 success against Saffron Walden. In Division 2 South East, the 2As edged past Waltham Forest by the only goal. The 3rds claimed four points from a possible six from a weekend double-header to boost their Kent League Premier Division survival hopes. They edged past Sevenoaks 1-0 on Saturday before a 3-3 draw at Old Williamsonians the following day. The city club were 2-0 down inside 25 minutes but Sue Spight pulled one back before the break and it was 2-2 soon after. OWS snatched the lead with five minutes remaining but Alice Dunn converted a short corner to grab a point. The 3As drew 1-1 against Deal in Division 1 while the over35s will face Olton & West Warwicks Ladies Masters in the National Cup Final on May 5.
