Invicta East Kent AC athletes claimed a host of medals at an indoor competitio­n at Lee Valley.

Louise Evans claimed gold in the under-17 200m with Djamilla Nkereuwem finishing third while Hannah Scrivens just missed out on a place in the final after finishing third in her heat.

Korede Awe claimed a fine silver in his first under-20 competitio­n for the club, dipping on the line to stop the clock in 23.11secs and pip an athlete who had beaten him into third in the heats.

University of Kent student Kess Ogohrie then claimed bronze in the senior men’s category, having taken second in the heats.

Another University of Kent student and Invicta member, Daphnee Ries, finished fifth in her final.

After two years out, Freya Lee pulled clear to cross the line first in the 800m, only to be disqualifi­ed, leaving Louise Flynn with silver.

Joseph Whitby competed in the under-20 age group, finishing third in his straight final with a time of 2.02.

Maddison Sawyer also took on the 800m with a strong second place and a new PB of 2.25.88.

After stepping up from the 400m, Annabel Carter finished in second place in her first year competing at middle distance.

The following day Scrivens missed out on a place in the 60m final by just one hundredth of a second, finishing fourth in her heat in a new PB.

Awe was pipped to another silver by team-mate Max Heavens in the 60m final, having to settle for bronze. University of Kent student Lesley Lartey finished fifth in his first 60m.

Louise Evans cruised to victory in the 300m heat in a time of 42.33 and improved that to 41.06 as she won the final to go eighth on the national rankings.

Barney Dougal was third in his first indoor 400m, just missing the final.

Sawyer reached her second straight final and claimed second in the 300m in a time of 45.05.

University of Kent student Emily Cartledge finished fourth in her 400m with a new PB of 1.03.95 and also picked-up silver in both the high jump and the shot putt.

Cole Gibbens won the under-17 1,500m in a time of 4.25.53 while Carter also took gold for Invicta with a new PB of 4.57.90.

Canterbury Harriers AC’S Yiannis Christodou­lou won the tri-spirit Hole Park Trail Run 5k, breaking the course record with a time of 21 minutes 16 seconds.

His wife Melanie Christodou­lou was fourth and second lady home in 28.05 after tackling the hilly cross-country course.

At the Paddock Wood Half Marathon, Ian Stokes achieved a personal best in 1:25.07 as well as Jethro Kimber in 1:31.27. There were debuts for Thomas Hooley (1:36.34), Tom Jessup (1:53.27) and Kieran Jessup (1:59.27).

At the Asics Greater Manchester Marathon, PBS were gained by Stephen Tugwell (3:05.53), Thom Fentem (3:13.18), Paul Elderton (3:22.12) and Mike Denson (3:24.12).

At the Serpentine Last Friday of the month 5k, Alex Horsley gained a PB in 17.41.

At the Qeop 10k Summer Series, Sian Smith- Keary gained a personal best and was third female home in 46.13.
