Crash victim ‘suicide’ theory
The death of a man killed last week when he was struck by a car transporter on the Thanet Way was “probably suicide”.
An inquest was opened yesterday (Wednesday) into the death of dad-of-two Michael Bundy, 54.
Mr Bundy, of Ridgeway Cliff, Herne Bay, was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit on the London-bound carriageway near Dargate at 9am last Monday.
Chris Morris, the assistant coroner for Mid Kent and Medway, was told he had died from multiple injuries.
The car transporter overturned after striking Mr Bundy, who had parked his grey Porsche Boxster at the side of the road near the Shell service station on the A299.
Police shut the road, leading to major hold-ups as drivers tried to avoid the area.
The tragedy prompted tributes online.
Kingofhearts wrote: “RIP fella and heartfelt thoughts to his family. Makes me think how short life is and how it can be snatched away so quickly.”
Another wrote: “R.I.P. my best friend. I will miss you terribly.”
The road was shut for 12 hours to allow officers to carry out investigations at the crash site. The transporter also needed to be righted and taken away from the area.
