Four family shows for the half-term break

Four entertaini­ng family shows are being performed at the Gulbenkian during the halfterm break.

Some of the best touring theatrical companies are among those presenting production­s, including Suites Curieuses – an interpreta­tion of Little Red Riding Hood whose characters are brought to life through skilful animation.

The show, on Sunday, May 28, has been produced by Company Cas Public from Canada. There are performanc­es at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm and tickets cost £8 with a discount for groups of four or more.

Inside, on Wednesday, May 31, is said to be an intimate, immersive, multi-sensory puppetry show for young children, which has been developed in-house at the Gulbenkian.

Bambert’s Book of Lost Stories, on Saturday, June 3, is performed by Barking Gecko Theatre Company from Australia and comes fresh from the Edinburgh Internatio­nal Children’s Festival.

It tells of a very small man with a love of writing who creates stories tucked away in his attic, which he sends out on balloons for others to find.

There are performanc­es at 1pm and 4.30pm. Tickets cost £8 with discounts for groups of four or more.

The holiday season ends with Sponge on Sunday, June 4, where toddlers – and even grown-ups – can join in a soft, bouncy adventure.

It is suitable for children aged from four months to four years, with shows at midday and 2.30pm. Tickets cost £8 with discounts for groups of four or more.

There are also children’s favourites at the Gulbenkian cinema, with Peppa Pig at 2pm on Sunday, May 28, and The LEGO Batman Movie at 1.30pm on Sunday, June 4.
