Theatre-goers told not to bring bags

-

Security has been stepped up at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury following the Manchester terror attack which claimed 22 lives.

Theatre-goers are being advised not to bring bags to the venue, except only small handbags which will still be searched.

Spokesman Sarah Munday says the measures are in response to the national threat level being increased to critical.

Theatres and other venues where there are large, confined gatherings of people are thought to be especially vulnerable.

Mrs Munday says the same measures are being implemented at most venues across the coun- try on the advice of security services. She said: “Small handbags will be acceptable, but may be searched. We are also asking people to arrive earlier than normal to allow checks to take place.”
