Festival friend will be missed
How sad to learn of the death of the Rev Nicholas Stacey, man of the church, reformer and sprinter, who was, for a spell, “the fastest white man on earth”.
To the many hundreds of words written quite rightly in appreciation of his work for the homeless and in Kent Social Services, we should add that, at a crucial time in the development of the Canterbury Festival, Nic charmed the TVS Trust which made a substantial grant to the festival, enabling it to survive a particularly difficult financial situation.
He and his wife Anne became staunch friends of the festival, and their presence in the festival “family” will be much missed; we remember them with love and gratitude. Peter Williams President Canterbury Festival
