Tankerton Bay Sailing Club’s Slavery racing series came to a a thrilling climax at the weekend.
Nineteen boats of all classes contested eight races over four weekends with the outcome going down to the final race to split the top three sailors.
The battle was between Fred Lynds (Topper), Mike Coleman (Dart 18) and Ian Mills (Sprint 15) and with gusty weather conditions. it tested the skill and flexibility of all of the sailors.
Mills, with three first places across the series, could only manage fifth in the last race but even with Coleman pulling out a fine second, it wasn’t enough as Mills took glory ahead of Coleman, in second, and Lynds third.
Sailing continues at Tankerton most Sundays. For details go to www.tbsc.co.uk/
