Countbacks all important

St Stephens GS

-

Countbacks were needed to decide the leading four places as the St Stephen’s Golf Society’s latest event produced one of the closest finishes for many seasons at Faversham. Ian Jackson pipped Alex Mcbeth for top spot after both men had scored 36 points and just one point back was Howard Turbitt who also edged out Karl Robson on countback. Robson claimed the approach shot award on the fifth while Turbitt got nearest the pin on the ninth and Mcbeth nearest the pin on the 16th. There was also a presentation by club skipper Steve Winder to member Kevin Mullins whose son Ethan has mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS). At the last society day, the club raised nearly £400 in fines, donations and prize money returns. The club congratulated Kevin for the money he’s managed to raise over the past few weeks with sponsored walks, social media awareness and through his network of work colleagues and friends.
