Trio book France trip

Cycling

-

Several local cyclists have qualified for the UCI Masters World Championships in France in August. Riding at the 80-mile Tour of Cambridge on Sunday, Adalta CC’S Gary Pullen and Allan Robinson were joined by Littlebourne’s Mark Jeffery, riding in the colours of Folkestone Velo Club. In tough conditions and with strong head winds, the trio completed the ride in 3hr 27min, while Adalta’s Jamie DaviesEvans also qualified in his age group in the Gran Fondo day event. James Ogilvie had a hard day out, getting caught behind a crash then suffering a puncture 15 miles from the finish which ended his hope of qualifying. The previous day, Charmaine Pullen narrowly missed out on qualifying at the Tour of Cambridge Chrono but put in a brilliant ride. Justine Beba finished second in her age group at the Sprint Triathlon in Cranbrook. Dan Weale took sixth at the Urban X in Eastbourne, while Nick Saunders finished eighth at the Eastbourne Cycling Festival 4th Cat Crit. Jamie Davies-evans finished 14th in the Dunsfold Park Vets Series earlier in the week.
