Bowling: him alone in a field and his chance was gone.

After returning to the route he came home seventh in 39.35, 30 seconds adrift of his target.

Denson limped home in 46.29 having suffered an injury.

Adam Stokes won the New Forest 10m trail race in a PB of 54.57.

Yiannis Christodoulou took on the Hever Castle middle distance aquathlon involving a 1.9k swim followed by a 10.5k run.

Despite being sent the wrong way on the run, Christodoulou finished third overall but was bumped to second place due to the error. His overall time was 1:14.44.

Four youngsters from Invicta East Kent AC were among the 2,000 athletes taking part in the English Schools Championships at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham over the weekend.

In the junior boys’ section, Oscar Parrick took on the 800m and finished seventh in his heat with a

Total (all out, 45 overs) 121 time of 2min 06.37sec.

He remains ranked 30th in the country for the 800m.

Team-mate Alexandra Millard took to the track for the intermediate girls’ 1,500m, finishing ninth in of 4.49.20.

Charlie Brisley was up against a tough field of 26 athletes in the intermediate boys’ 3,000m and finished in 16th in 9.04.26 to stay 34th in the country after his sub-nine minute PB in early June.

Louise Evans produced a superb run to win her heat in the intermediate girls’ 300m in a season’s best time of 39.6.

Last year, she narrowly missed out on the final by 0.1sec so to make it easily through to the final was a big improvement this year.

The following day’s final was close with a photo finish needed to separate second, third and fourth places.

Evans had to settle for fourth with a time of 39.62 but still sits in seventh in the country for 300m before making the jump to 400m from September. 12-4-14-4, Parr 12-2-44-1, J Gould 10-2-21-2, B Gould 5-0-14-3.
