Fun-filled day for the family

-

The stunning grounds of Godmersham Park played host to huge crowds during a summer fun day at the weekend.

Gates to the 18th century stately home were opened on Saturday to more than 500 people for the charity fundraiser.

The sun shone, at least for most of the day, as families squared off against each other in softball and cricket matches, as well as giant board games.

Other attractions included a tombola, stalls and live music from Richard Ansell, while TV actress Pam Ferris engaged a captive audience during a 40-minute Q&A session.

It is hoped the fun day will have raised about £6,000 for the Fifth Trust Charity, which organised the event and supports people with learning difficulties across east Kent.

The money will go towards a £2 million project to build three new classroom areas at the charity’s base in Barham.
