Eclectic mix of ‘lively and happy music’

Uplifting and diverse music will resound at St Alphege Church in Whitstable on Saturday when a favourite east Kent choir returns.

Musical director Emily Peasgood will lead her 60-voice en Choir at their annual concert, in an eclectic blend of soul, rock, pop, world and classical music, and promises an evening “of lively, happy music, a real treat.”

The choir will be accompanie­d by bass player Akos Hazsnos and Matt Hodge on percussion. Members of Emily’s fledgling, yet already thriving Margate-based choir, Bigmouth Chorus, will also make an appearance.

Favourite hits from legends like Leonard Cohen, David Bowie and Prince will be in the musical mix, as well as hits from Michael Jackson, Enya and Guns and Roses.

Audiences will be treated the choir’s rendition of the haunting and tender The Lamb, by 20th Century classical composer John Taverner.
