CROQUET: taster session a success
Twenty members of Canterbury & District University of the Third Age tried their hand at croquet on Canterbury Croquet Club’s new lawns at Polo Farm on Friday. Led by golf croquet captain Judy Sturrock and her team, they practised mallet control and hoop running before taking part in games. Sturrock, a former U3A chairman and croquet tournament player, said: “It was a successful day and several of the visitors want to come back for more.” The event was part of the club’s campaign to raise membership now that it has three new lawns created by Polo Farm. The U3A has already booked two more taster sessions and the club previously hosted members of the White Cliffs Ramblers and the Preston & District Tuesday Club.
