LADIES CRICKET: ST LAWRENCE BOWLERS FIND GOING TOUGH

-

St Lawrence & Highland Court Ladies came up against strong opposition at home to Hursley Park Ladies who scored 358-8 in their 50 overs. Charlotte Pape took 2-53 and Phillipa Skelton-hook 2-60 while New Zealand guest Sophie Pyott and debutant Ella Hadler took a wicket each. Pape also held two catches and Anna Healey achieved two run outs. In reply, St Lawrence fought well, finishing their innings on 196-9 from 42.4 overs. Pape (51), Emma Marsh (13 retired) and Emily Thompson (27) put on 92 for the second wicket while Skelton-hook (43) and Pyott (21) put on 51 for the fifth. However, some tight bowling by the visitors ensured that St Lawrence lost wickets regularly and fell short of the run rate required for victory. A raffle held by the club raised £250 for the Ellenor Lions Hospices.
