Revellers just keep rocking in the rain

Revellers didn’t let the poor weather get to them as rock returned to Mote Park.

The Ramblin’ Man Fair drew huge crowds to the County Town once again, with Graham Bonnett, Last in Line, Y&T and Saxon kicking it off on Friday.

Torrential downpours couldn’t dampen the mood at the third annual event, which brought together rock, blues and country music across four stages.

Unfortunately, the weather was no better on Saturday, but fans enjoyed performers including Caitlin Koch, a Nashville-based New Yorker who has performed with artists including Tears for Fears, Goo Goo Dolls, Trucker Diablo and the Kyle Gass Band.

Glenn Hughes pulled one of the largest crowds. He is best known as one of the front men for legendary rockers Deep Purple and played songs from his solo career punctuated with big hits, ending on a storming rendition of Burn that culminated in a mass singalong.

Extreme, a late 80s and early 90s hair metal band from Boston, took up the helm as headliners for the second night.

With electric energy and a real sense of fun, they delivered a stripped-down performance of More Than Words to eager ears.

The sun finally came out for the final day, with Iamthemorning leading proceedings on the prog stage. This Russian classical-popprog duo delivered a stunning and emotional performance.

Fans also enjoyed Devin Townsend, UFO, Aaron Keylock, Blues Pills, and Monster Truck, before chart-toppers ZZ Top, with their enviable beards, closed another year of riffs, revelling and good old rock and roll.

Ramblin Man is returning on Saturday, June 30, and Sunday, July 1, 2018, and super early bird tickets are nearly sold out.
