Goodall makes the most of conditions

The ladies’ monthly medal at Whitstable & Seasalter GC was contested in perfect conditions.

Sue Goodall enjoyed the conditions most, five pars helping her to play to her handicap, recording a net 68.

Louise Tucker was second with a net 70 and Ann Milner third with a net 72, all in Division 1.

In Division 2, Joyce Jaynes was winner by one shot with a net 72, from Inge Parry, net 73 and Jean Hudson in third with net 75.

In the nine-hole qualifying Stableford running alongside the medal, Jean Clode was winner with 13 points.

And winner of the putting competitio­n which ran alongside the medal, with the best total yet of 29 putts, was Inge Parry.

A drawn pairs Stableford, drawn after playing in windy conditions the following week, was won by Ann Milner who played a great round to score 39 points, by far the best score on the day.

She was drawn with Jean Hudson who had second highest total of 33, meaning they were winners by some margin.

Joyce Jaynes and Mel Bashford were second on countback from Louise Tucker and Marjorie Harris, both pairs on 57.

The annual competitio­n for the Lowe Trophy was well attended and Val Brown was winner by one shot with a net 68, from Louise Tucker and the returning Holly Butler, both on net 69.

In fourth place, just one shot further behind, was the youngest female member, Millie Tucker, in her first ever ladies competitio­n.

Competitio­n for the annual Grandparen­ts Trophy was fierce as always. Molly and Barry Broadbent won the mixed foursomes with 39 points, narrowly seeing off defending champions Pat Bensted and Brian Ridley, one point behind. League at home to Boughton, Chestfield won 2½-½ to secure their spot at the top of the league.

Ben Robertson and Max Reid finished all square, Keiran Stubbs and Zac D’souza won 5&3 while Jamie Newman and Joe Reid won 2&1

Terry Jemmett’s net 67 topped the scoring in the Rabbits Cup on Saturday.

The 23-handicappe­r was a shot clear of Kevin Page with Kevin Cambridge another two shots adrift in third.

Richard Punyer’s 40 points were enough to land Chestfield GC’S Midweek Stableford last Wednesday.

John Mingers was runner-up two points back with Adrian Ingoldby in third with 37 points and Matthew Miller in fourth a point further back.

In the Invicta League Chestfield won 3½-1½ at home to Prince’s.
